Kia ora! I’m Amy, a senior experience designer stepping into lead-level roles, known for strategic thinking, mentoring designers, and aligning product and design vision. I thrive in ambiguity and bring structure and clarity to complex problem spaces.
With a background in entrepreneurial startups, digital marketing, design, open data and customer support, mixed in with a degree in Psychology, I've followed my curiosity. Whether it's making cool stuff that helps people in small business or figuring out ways to improve people's lives using open data - I take all my learnings from these into my current role.
I have a passion for solving customer problems in complex systems and finding considered and contextual solutions through cross-functional team collaboration.
When not at work, I lend my design and IT skills to those in need. Currently, I dedicate 4 hours a week to the PII Foundation as their Chief Digital Officer, a platform providing online GP Services to Ukrainians worldwide. I created a cost-effective website to reinforce their message. In my spare time I tend to take technology apart and fix it, making mini versions of things, or indulging my passion for travel, movies, music and any other media.

My previous experience has mainly been in product management, customer experience, data analysis, operations and communications/marketing. I specialise in being a generalist, making tools that help people. While I enjoy working in Tech, I’m neutral about what we use to build a great product - my main goal is on what is going to work best for people and the job they are wanting to do.
As far as my work style goes, i’m a natural collaborator and facilitator. I like to have time to process thoughts and ideas, but prefer to work with a team to further develop and grow these into a product. With my background in startups, i’m used to working both on the tools and developing high-level strategic plans, i’ll try to figure out how something works so I can help out, and i’m comfortable asking a ton of questions until we have some sort of breakthrough.
With working in a team, my goal is to bring out the best in people, through kindness and compassion. I have worked with inter-team conflict around product priorities and managed competing demands on product development. When working with clients or other external stakeholders, I believe strongly in data-informed decision making, where data is an important part of critical thinking and creating a context in which to grow understanding.
Areas I am interested in working include strategic customer and user experience, service design, team processes, organisation culture, remote working and how we get people working together to create great things!
